Abstinence

Have you ever heard the word abstinence? It is choosing not to have sex to totally protect yourself from pregnancy but also from HIV and other sexuallytransmitted diseases and infections. When you choose abstinence to protect yourself you are deciding not to take any chances.

HIV and other STDs can be spread through vaginal, anal, and oral intercourse. Some can even be transmitted through skin-to-skin genital contact, even if you don’t have intercourse. Some STDs, like syphilis and herpes, can be passed through kissing. DO NOT KISS IF SORES OR BLISTERS ARE PRESENT. HIV and hepatitis can also be passed through sharing needles for drugs, steroids, vitamins, tattoos and body piercing. DO NOT SHARE NEEDLES.

In order to completely keep yourself until you marry, you will need to abstain from sex and from sharing needles all the time. Don’t think just because a person looks healthy it is safe to have sex with them. You cannot tell by looking at someone is infected with HIV or another STD.

Saying no to alcohol or other drugs will also help protect you, Even if you mean to say no to sex, you may not be able to tick to your limits if you are drunk or high.
